CH500WQ03B 40Pin 5 Inch Sunlight Readable TFT Display: Outdoor-Ready Clarity for Portable Applications

The CH500WQ03B is a 5-inch transmissive TFT LCD module designed for industrial applications requiring reliable outdoor visibility. The module operates with a TN, normally white mode and delivers 1000 cd/m² luminance from its 18 white LED backlight, enabling consistent legibility under high ambient light conditions including direct sunlight, with a 500:1 contrast ratio. The active area measures 110.88 mm × 62.832 mm, with a dot pitch of 0.231 mm × 0.231 mm and a native resolution of 480 × RGB × 272 pixels (dot resolution). RGB vertical stripe color filter array supports 16 million colors.

The module is built around a standard 40-pin FPC with a 24-bit RGB parallel interface. Operating temperature ranges from -20℃ to +70℃, with storage temperature from -30℃ to +80℃. Overall module dimensions are 120.7 mm (W) × 75.8 mm (H) × 2.9 mm (T). An optional capacitive touch panel (CTP) or resistive touch panel (RTP) can be integrated for user interaction. The module is RoHS compliant.

  • 1000 nits High Brightness – Stable Visibility Under Direct Sunlight：Outdoor equipment commonly faces the problem of difficulty in reading screen content in strong light environments. Ordinary displays suffer from severely reduced contrast under direct sunlight due to ambient light reflection and insufficient backlight brightness, requiring users to shield their eyes or move to a shaded area to operate them. This display module uses 1000 cd/m² high-brightness LED backlight (18 white LEDs) and TN transmissive constant white mode display, achieving 2 to 3 times the brightness of ordinary industrial screens. Combined with a 500:1 contrast ratio, it effectively suppresses glare interference under high ambient light conditions, maintaining clear text and icons. 
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range from -20℃ to +70℃ – Adaptable to Harsh Environments：Outdoor or industrial equipment often faces extreme temperature challenges – internal temperatures can exceed 60℃ under summer sun, while temperatures in cold winter regions can drop below freezing. Ordinary consumer-grade displays are prone to problems such as sluggish LCD response, image ghosting, or even failure to start in such environments. This product operates within a temperature range of -20℃ to +70℃, with a storage temperature extended to -30℃ to +80℃, making it suitable for outdoor and industrial scenarios in a variety of climates, from hot deserts to cold mountainous regions.
