Single-layer FPCs are built on a standalone flexible substrate. Only one side features copper foil, meaning all circuit traces must be arranged on this single conductive surface. Thanks to its simple production workflow and great adaptability across scenarios, this FPC type remains the most popular and widely adopted option in commercial electronic applications.
Double-layer FPCs come with two stacked substrate layers. They support circuit routing on either single or dual-sided copper foil, offering far more flexible layout possibilities compared to single-layer variants. This upgraded structure allows for more intricate circuit designs, while still retaining the core flexibility that defines FPC products.
Multi-layer FPCs are structured by stacking multiple flexible substrates and circuit layers, with most common models featuring 3 to 6 conductive layers. Insulating materials sit between each circuit layer, and protective or copper-clad coverings shield the outermost surfaces. These boards deliver solid reliability, stable performance and strong fault tolerance, making them the go-to choice for high-end, high-performance electronic devices.
PI FPC: Using polyimide as the base substrate, this FPC variant stands out for its exceptional heat resistance and robust mechanical properties. It works perfectly for compact, high-density circuit designs that demand precise and stable long-term operation.

PET FPC: Made with polyester film substrates, PET-based FPCs are lightweight and budget-friendly. They fit perfectly for mass-produced, portable consumer electronics, including smart wristbands, wireless earbuds and portable power banks.
PEN FPC: Fabricated with premium polyethylene naphthalate materials, PEN FPCs strike a great balance in overall performance. They see regular use in computer accessories, LCD screens, touch panels, backlight modules and various LED lighting products.
FPC with adhesive layer: This type of FPC adds a dedicated adhesive coating on its base substrate. Manufacturers typically use polyimide or polyamide nitrile film as the base material, with the adhesive layer serving as a key structural component for secure bonding and assembly during product integration.
FPC without adhesive layer: As the name suggests, adhesiveless FPCs remove the extra adhesive coating entirely. They can be produced with polyester, polyimide or polyamide nitrile substrates. Removing the adhesive layer delivers purer material characteristics and more consistent electrical performance in practical use.
High-density FPC: High-density flexible circuits rely on specialized raw materials and refined manufacturing techniques. They pack more circuit wires and compact connector layouts into minimal spaces, fully meeting the miniaturization and high-precision needs of modern advanced electronics.
Low-density FPC: Low-density FPCs feature relatively sparse circuit wiring and a straightforward production process. They deliver reliable basic functionality at a lower manufacturing cost, ideal for standard electronic products with simple circuit requirements and cost-sensitive projects.
